Aunt Big Boo Boo

One of Thomas's favorite people is my sister Lisa. She comes over to visit Thomas at least once or twice a week. He loves her. I think you can tell from this picture that he likes her. Isn't that priceless? Patrick and I love when she comes over to visit too. She will give him a bottle or play with him while I cook dinner. Such a big help!

Lisa calls Thomas "Boo Boo." Don't know where the nickname came from, but it has stuck. The other night, we decided that Thomas needed to have a nickname for her. Most of you know that Lisa has been called "Little Lisa" most of her life. Patrick and I decided that she needed a change, so we thought Thomas could call her "Aunt Big Boo Boo." Thomas would be Boo Boo and she would finally get to be "big." Not sure that Lisa went for the idea, but that's the plan for now!

When she is holding him, Thomas will get distracted by some bright color or shiny light, and Lisa will remind him that it only matters what's on the inside. I chuckled the first time she told him that, but I love that he hears that from her! What a good lesson for a little boy to learn starting at an early age. Keep up the good teaching, Lisa. Thomas is definitely listening to what you say!

This picture cracks me up because you can see his full diaper popping out of his outfit. Always the little boy, Thomas isn't phased!

We all love our Lisa (Little Lisa, Lis, Pooky, Aunt Big Boo Boo)!

P.S. We will have to come up with a fun nickname for Ann when she comes home over Christmas! We wish she could come visit us every week too!

Friends for Life

Thomas and Elizabeth Magee don't realize it yet, but they are going to be friends for life. They really don't have a choice. Their mommies have already decided for them. They spend all day together now that I'm back at work. At first, Elizabeth Magee wasn't too sure about this "boy" that was taking up time with her Madeline. She was super jealous, and I don't blame her. As the weeks have gone by, she has become accustomed to Thomas being there. Sometimes she even tries to console him when he's crying (she was patting him the other day).

Thomas is a typical boy and acts like he doesn't notice that Elizabeth Magee is there, but I know he's watching her. He started talking a lot more after spending time with her. I think he will want to do everything she does pretty soon!

Here is the first play date these two had. I think Thomas was about 2 weeks old. The boppy was swallowing him!

And here are the two babies two weeks ago. Julia made the comment that they look like a little old couple sleeping in a nursing home. I think that's so funny and so true! Notice the distinct color differences - as if you couldn't tell one was a girl and the other a boy. I used the pink blanket the other day for Thomas and Patrick promptly replaced it with a blue one.

Can you believe how big these two are getting? Growing up too fast!

I hope this is a foreshadowing of the friendship to come. Leaning on each other to make it through the ups and downs of growing up. I have a feeling there will be a lot more pictures of these two in the future!

Bath Time!

I want Thomas to be a water baby. I love the beach and the pool, and I want him to love it as well. If bath time is any indication, I think I got my wish. He loves to splash around in the water. He can go from a full on scream to smiles the second you put him in the water. I don't have any pictures while he's in the tub because my hands are a little tied up and he splashes so much, it's a danger zone for the camera. We will try to sneak one in this weekend though. Here are some pictures right after his bath. He is still a happy baby here too!

The Love of a Parent

I don't think I fully understood a parent's love until Thomas was born. Unconditional takes on a new meaning. My heart skips a beat when he looks my way and gives me that gummy smile. I melt.

I tell him that he is going to have to stop being so sweet. His mommy is going to give him whatever he wants if he keeps this up, and we all know that cannot be good for a child. Part of me just says who cares as long as I get to see that smile!

Here are two pictures that sum up how much his mommy and dad love him! I think he loves us back. What do you think?

I have to make a comment about how cute these two are. Thomas absolutely adores his dad. They are buds. They already play a game. Can you believe that a 3 month old can understand how to play a game? They both make these really serious faces and stare at each other. The first to laugh or smile is supposed to lose. Thomas ALWAYS smiles/laughs first. I don't think he's ever the loser though! These two can play this game time after time and it fills me with love and gratitude. Love for my guys and gratitude that I get to be their wife/mother. I'm one lucky girl. I need to remember that every moment of every day.

Growing So Fast

Look at this happy boy! He makes waking up (super early) every morning a joy. I cannot imagine life without him now that he is here. Here is a recap of how much he has grown over the last 3 months.

Photo Shoot

Here are the pictures from the photo shoot at the hospital. Susan Riddle Duke took these pictures and I could not be more pleased. Our little angel cooperated to the fullest and proved to us just how photogenic he could be. Thomas was only 2 days old in these pictures.
