A New Kind of February

We are cherishing this February because it is different than any other we have had before. I have not worked a single weekend in 2014! Now, this was the point of my new job but it has really sunk in what a gift my new schedule is to our family. Fun weekends playing with my boys have been the best. The icing on the cake is that I really love what I am doing at my new job too. It is the perfect fit for me!

Valentine's day was fun this year because Thomas got into the holiday once he got over the fact that Christmas wasn't coming again. We made pirate valentines for his friends at school and here is a picture of Thomas passing them out.

At school that week, they had lots of special crafts. He was very proud of his heart!

It is hanging on one of his bulletin boards, which I finally finished in his room. I think they are the perfect fit for this wall. Lulu gave Thomas this giant ruler for Valentines day and it is so cute in his big boy room.

We have been soaking up the pretty weather all week. We went to the Zoo twice this week and Ms. Helene joined us Friday as a special treat. Thomas LOVES Ms. Helene and Mr. Watson. They are his Sunday school teachers too which is extra special.

The nice weather also meant things have been busy in our backyard. They did the patio last week and it looks great. Below are a few shots of the progress. Landscapers come in the next two weeks. Patrick had to take apart the swing set to move it, so it is only halfway back together.

I am looking forward to spending lots of time out here this spring and summer. It will be even better when I can sit back and enjoy a nice glass of wine! ; ) Only 11 weeks to go...glucose test tomorrow. Hope I pass because I don't want to do the three-hour test. Bi-weekly ultrasounds start this week to monitor my fluid levels. Hard to believe I was on bed rest one week from now in my last pregnancy.

It Finally SNOWED!

We have had a brutal winter...colder temperatures than I can ever remember. Until this weekend, however, we haven't had any snow. We woke up Saturday morning to a beautiful blanket of powdery snow - not ice!

Thomas was ready to go play in the snow from the moment he woke up. I was able to hold him off until 7:00 am and then Patrick took him outside to play. Thank goodness for Daddy because Mommy would not have lasted nearly as long or been nearly as fun!

Thomas loves a Mickey Mouse Christmas movie where Goofy shovels the snow from his steps and driveway, so he was determined to shovel the snow off of our steps too!

Our neighbor, Sam, came over to play in the snow. He didn't last nearly as long as Thomas. Our stubborn little guy would have stayed out until his fingers froze off.

Thomas and Patrick built a cute snowman...Thomas was very excited to use a carrot for the nose. Of course, our snowman has a Georgia hat on!

We had to drag him inside to warm up with hot chocolate by the heater. Luckily, the snow was all melted by lunch or we would have been out there all day long!

In other news, we have had a busy weekend. On Friday, Thomas and I made his Valentine's for his friends at school. On Friday night, we went to the Rendezvous because some of our extended family was in town. My dad's father had a sister, Lucia, who lived in DC and had several children. One of her daughters, Cooby, still lives in DC and we keep up with her and her two daughters, Nelse and Kate. Nelse got married this past spring and is expecting her first baby in April. They came to town to visit and my dad hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the newlyweds and parents to be.

We had a small surprise baby shower for Nelse on Saturday. I didn't get any pictures from the party that night, but it was beautiful and we loved getting to see family that we don't see very often.

Henry's first monogrammed item just came in. Very exciting! He is doing well so far. Went to the doctor last week and he weighed 1 pound 8 ounces in the 49 percentile. Starting at the end of the month, I will go every two weeks for ultrasounds to monitor my fluid level.

This afternoon, Thomas and I are going to take Patrick to see Frozen. Thomas and I went to see the movie a few weeks ago with Mimi while my Dad and Patrick were off hunting. He LOVED watching a movie on the "big TV" and has been asking to go back ever since. It is actually a really cute movie!
