The month of May is always busy but this year it has been crazy. We have been bouncing from one thing to another and haven't slowed down. So much has happened so I'm just going to hit the highlights as best as I can and come back later for some more detail.
We celebrated Tino's birthday.
Memphis in May BBQ Fest - Bryce has a team so we went down on Wednesday and Thursday night. Lots of fun!
Thomas had his last day of Pre-K at EUMK. Here he is with a big smile hugging Mrs. Waller.
The weather has been glorious so we logged in lots of time outside. Both boys love our sandbox. Henry loves to crush whatever Thomas builds.
We had the Osiris Banner Party - this might have been the nicest one yet. They had an awesome band and amazing food. Great party!
The MCC pool opened and this little guy gets to enjoy it this year. He spent lots of time there last year but none in the water. He has already proven to be quite the water baby. The best part of the pool are the naps afterwards!
The boys' club.
Sweet boy loves to drink water from a straw almost as much as he loves swimming in the pool.
We went to Atlanta one weekend because Brian was graduating from law school. Look at this happy face. He travels really well overall. He gets tired of it at times but who doesn't?
We were serious tourists while we were in town. We went to Legoland and the Georgia Aquarium. The boys and I got to visit with my friend Laura during the graduation ceremony. It was so good to catch up with her.
On Wednesday, we met DeeDee, John Eric and Jane in Jackson and headed to Gulf Port to stay at the Hester's beach house. We had the best time with them. The kids played so well together. Jane called Thomas "Tommy" the whole time and Thomas called Jane "Jane Jane." Henry walked away with the nickname "Gus Gus" after the fat mouse in Cinderella. Pulling his swim shirts over that belly always makes me laugh.
This sweet girl had a grand time!
And so did Thomas.
Poor Henry came down this a fever that landed us in the ER on Thursday night. It reached 105 and I got so scared. I thought for sure it was an ear infection but after ruling out ears, pneumonia, and strep, they settled on a fever virus. It stayed that high or higher without medicine but was controlled to 103 or lower with medicine. Poor guy was so sick and didn't get better for 72 hours. He certainly enjoyed lots of snuggles.
And pushing the cozy coupe around once he felt better.
These two make my heart smile.
Henry finally got to come to the beach for a little bit on Saturday. He loved playing in the ocean and liked the sand until it got in his eyes.
Kite flying.
We attempted some beach pictures of the kiddos. I will post the better ones later but this is how 98% of them looked. It was like herding cats trying to get a 4, 2 and 1 year old to pay attention.
Ready for the beach again and couldn't get any cooler.
We left on Sunday at noon and this was the backseat after 15 minutes on the road. Worn out!
We got a call from our neighbors about 3 hours later that two huge limbs had fallen on our house. Turns out one of the limbs went straight through the roof and into the living room. It left a huge hole right above the couch and coffee table. It was raining that day, so we had a rain shower in there for a while. We are so thankful that we were not home because anyone on that couch would have been hurt.
My sweet Dad and uncle went over to check on the damage for us. By the time we got home 3 hours later, they had chain sawed what they could of the tree to get it off the house, tarped the hole in the roof and shop vaced a lot of the debris inside. Our angels were watching out for us all around.
On Monday, the tree crew came to clean it up. Thomas was in Heaven when he saw the crane truck, bobcat, chipper and dump truck.
We won't be able to live in the house for a few weeks because it tore the main A/C duct and severed the electrical line to the front of the house. The whole living room ceiling has to be torn down, replaced, repainted, the porch rebuilt, the entire front part of the roof replaced and most of it redecked. I'm sure the list will be longer once we get into the project.
I'm trying to be optimistic but right now it is a little overwhelming having the kids displaced. We are staying at my dad's house right now. They were so nice to let us invade at the drop of the hat. We are moving to the MCC suites once Carnival is over.
Here's hoping June is a lot calmer...
